• New organ dedication & concert

    Mark your calendars and join us on Sunday, May 17 at 6PM for Oak Island EPC’s dedication of the new Makin Organ and Organ Concert.


    Charles Douthit will be our guest organist. He is a gifted young award-winning organist having won the Baylor School of Music Semper Pro Musica Competition for organ in 2021. Charles is the primary organist and assistant music director at Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresville, NC. His concert will demonstrate his virtuosity and explore the dynamic range of our new Makin Organ.


    There will be a meet-the-organist reception in Fellowship Hall following the concert.

Charles Douthit

Charles Douthit is an organist, collaborative pianist, and choral musician from Mooresville, North Carolina. He recently graduated with a M.M. in Church Music from Baylor University, having studied organ with Dr. Jens Korndörfer. He also holds a B.M. in Church Music from the Baylor School of Music, having studied organ with Dr. Isabelle Demers and Dr. Margaret Harper.  


During his undergraduate studies, Charles won 1st Prize and the prize for outstanding hymn playing in the 50th annual William C. Hall Pipe Organ Competition in 2021. In 2022, he was selected as the organ division winner in the Baylor School of Music Semper Pro Musica Competition. As a collaborative artist, he has worked with the Baylor School of Music in various roles both as a pianist and an organist, most notably serving a five-semester term as the accompanist for Baylor Bella Voce, a select treble ensemble founded by Dr. Lynne Gackle. 


Charles’s greatest passion is church music, having recently been appointed as the new Assistant Director of Music and Organist at Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresville, North Carolina.
