Beach Bonfire
The Nurture and Christian Education Committee is inviting you to a Beach
Bonfire on Friday, April 11th (weather permitting)! Let’s enjoy the beauty of
God’s creation, the relaxing sound of the ocean waves, and a great opportunity
for fellowship!
We will gather at 7:00 pm on the beach at the Oak Island Pier, in the direction
of Barbee Boulevard (which is just one block away from the Pier), and enjoy
the bonfire until about 9:00pm. Sunset will be at 7:43 pm. The pier is open
until 10:00 pm, giving a great destination for a relaxed evening stroll.
There is plenty of parking around the Pier, including a big parking lot. There is
also handicap access, and a bathroom at the pier.
You will need to bring your own beach chair(s). Typically, the temperature will
be in the mid 60s, so plan to dress accordingly!
Snacks and drinks will be provided, but if you would like to contribute
something, please contact Agnes Taylor at 910-278-9741 or
oakislandpcdce@gmail.com.
If you do not like to drive at night, but you would love to join us, we will be
glad to arrange a ride for you. Just contact Agnes Taylor.
If the weather does not cooperate (too windy, rainy, ...), we will have a
MOVIE NIGHT in the Fellowship Hall instead. Make sure to check the church
website (www.oipres.org) to see whether we have a bonfire or a movie!
If we have Movie Night instead, we will show the movie “The Most Reluctant
Convert: The Untold Story of C.S. Lewis” on the big screen in the Fellowship
Hall. Experience the conversion journey of the author of The Chronicles of
Narnia, Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters from hard-boiled atheist
to, as C.S. Lewis himself describes it, “the most reluctant convert in all
England.” The movie features Samuel West, known for his role as James
Herriot in the recent All Creatures Great and Small series.
